Working Papers app overview
Overview
KNEWTE Working Papers is used to create structured working paper files for clients, suppliers, projects, jobs, compliance work, internal reviews and other business records.
Instead of keeping documents in separate folders, comments in emails and review notes in spreadsheets, the app keeps everything inside one controlled file structure.
A working paper file can include:
- A tree structure with parent and child sections
- Supporting documents attached to the correct section
- PDF, image, text, HTML, archive and Microsoft Office documents
- Review points, comments and replies
- Author comments for external reviewers
- Readiness status, red ticks, flags and not applicable marks
- Export settings and reviewer file sharing
- Cloud sync status for online Office documents
Main idea
Each tree node represents an area of work. A node can hold documents and review activity. This means the user can open a section and immediately see the evidence, comments and status for that part of the file.
Typical workflow
- Add or select a client.
- Create or choose a filing cabinet.
- Create a working paper file from scratch or from a template.
- Build the file structure using tree nodes.
- Upload documents to the correct nodes.
- Add comments, review points and author comments.
- Mark sections as ready, not applicable or excluded from export where needed.
- Share a review file with an external reviewer if required.
- Export, back up or complete the file.
Who can use it
The Working Papers app is not limited to accounting firms. It can be used by any business that needs to organise supporting documents and review work, including professional services, consultants, agencies, compliance teams, property businesses, suppliers, project teams and internal administration teams.
Tips
- Keep node names clear and short.
- Upload each document to the node it supports.
- Use review points for items that need action.
- Use author comments for notes intended for external reviewers.
- Use export exclusion when information should remain internal.
