Upload documents to a node

Overview

Documents should be uploaded to the tree node they support. This keeps evidence in context and makes the file easier to review.

Supported document types can include:

  • PDF documents
  • Images
  • Text files
  • HTML and HTM files
  • Archive files such as ZIP
  • Microsoft Word documents
  • Microsoft Excel workbooks
  • Microsoft PowerPoint files

Upload using Choose Files

  1. Select the tree node.
  2. Click Choose Files.
  3. Select one or more documents.
  4. The upload starts according to the page behaviour.

Upload using drag and drop

  1. Select the tree node.
  2. Drag files from your computer into the document area.
  3. Drop the files.

Uploading multiple files

If more than one file is selected or dropped, the app may ask whether to:

  • Attach all documents to the selected node
  • Create new child nodes for each document
  • Cancel the upload

Choose the option that matches how you want the file organised.

Dropping files onto a tree node

Where supported, you can drag files directly onto a tree node. The app selects that node and uploads the documents there.

No preview available

Some file types, such as archives, may not have an online preview. Download the file from the toolbar if you need to open it.

Tips

  • Upload documents to the most specific node available.
  • Use clear file names before uploading.
  • Avoid uploading the same document to multiple nodes unless needed.
