Create and manage filing cabinets
Overview
Filing cabinets are used to group working paper files. They help keep files organised by business area, department, year, service type, record type or any other structure that works for your organisation.
Examples:
- Accounts
- Permanent Files
- Supplier Records
- Project Files
- HR Compliance
- Client Onboarding
- Internal Reviews
How to create a filing cabinet
- Open Filing Cabinets from the left menu.
- Choose New Filing Cabinet.
- Enter a cabinet name.
- Save the cabinet.
Password protection
If password protection is available for the cabinet, use it only where extra access control is needed. Make sure authorised users know how access is managed.
Good practice
- Use cabinets to separate major file groups.
- Keep cabinet names short and meaningful.
- Avoid creating too many similar cabinets unless there is a real business reason.
- Use consistent naming across teams.
Troubleshooting
If a cabinet does not appear when creating a file:
- Check that it is active.
- Check your access rights.
- Refresh the page.
