Create a working paper file
Overview
A working paper file is the main workspace where you organise sections, upload documents and manage review activity.
You can create a file:
- From scratch as a blank file
- From an industry template
Template-created files are not locked. You can edit the tree structure after the file is created.
How to create a blank file
- Open New Working Paper File.
- Select the client.
- Select the filing cabinet.
- Enter the file name.
- Leave Create from template unticked.
- Click Save.
How to create from a template
- Open New Working Paper File.
- Select the client and filing cabinet.
- Enter the file name.
- Tick Create from template.
- Select the industry.
- Select the template.
- Click Save.
Naming the file
Use a name that makes the file easy to identify later. Examples:
- Supplier Compliance File 2026
- Project Launch File
- Client Onboarding File
- Property Records 2026
- Internal Review File
Troubleshooting
If templates do not appear:
- Check that Create from template is ticked.
- Select an industry first.
- Confirm that the selected industry has templates.
