Account App Help — Reset Password
This page lets you set a new password using a secure reset link you received by email. Read the guidance below before you change your password.
Summary
- Purpose: Finish a password reset by entering a new password after clicking the reset link from your email.
- Link lifetime: Reset links expire (15 minutes by default). If your link expired, request a new reset.
- Main actions on the page:
- Enter New Password
- Enter Confirm Password
- Click Reset Password
- After success you’ll see a confirmation and a link to Sign In.
Before you begin
- Use the reset link sent to the same email address registered with your account. Do not share the link.
- If you didn’t request the reset, do not use the link — contact support immediately.
- If your reset link is older than a few minutes, check whether it expired and request a fresh reset if necessary.
Step-by-step: complete the reset
- Open the password reset email and click the Reset Password link.
- The page validates the link. If valid, the password form appears.
- Enter a new password in the New Password field.
- Re-type the same password in Confirm Password.
- Click the Reset Password button.
- On success:
- You’ll see a confirmation: “Your password has been successfully updated.”
- A Sign In link will be shown — use it to sign in with the new password.
- You will receive a notification email informing you that your password was changed.
Password rules (required)
- Minimum 8 characters
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number (0–9)
- At least one special character (for example:
! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) , . ? " : { } | < >) - Must not contain your name or the part of your email before the
@ - Avoid commonly used passwords (e.g., “password”, “123456”, “qwerty”)
Why these rules matter
- They reduce the risk of brute-force or dictionary attacks and stop weak or easily guessed passwords.
What you’ll see if something goes wrong
- “There is a problem with this request. Please try again.” — missing/corrupt link or required parameters.
- “This reset link has expired. Please send a new request to reset your password.” — the link is time-limited; request a new reset.
- “No reset request found for this account.” — the account has no matching reset record; request a new reset.
- “Passwords do not match.” — retype both fields carefully.
- “New password is required.” / “Please confirm your password.” — you left a field empty.
- “Password does not meet the required policy.” — adjust the password to meet the rules.
- Generic server or database errors — try again later; contact support if persistent.
If the reset link fails
- Request a new reset from the Forgot Password / Reset Password Request page.
- Check that you used the most recent reset email (do not reuse older links).
- Ensure your system clock is accurate (rarely, clock skew may affect expiry checks).
Security & privacy tips
- Use a unique password you don’t use elsewhere.
- Consider using a password manager to generate and store a strong password.
- If you did not initiate the reset, change your account password immediately via sign-in (if possible) and notify support.
- The system sends you an email notification after a password change — if you did not perform the change, follow the contact instructions in that email.
Accessibility & keyboard tips
- All fields and buttons are keyboard accessible. Use Tab to move focus and Enter to submit.
- If you copy/paste the reset link or code, avoid leading/trailing spaces.
After the reset
- Use the Sign In link on the page to log in with your new password.
- Check your email for the “Your Knewte account password has been changed” notification — it confirms the change and provides next steps if you did not perform the reset.
Troubleshooting checklist (what to try)
- Reload the reset link from the latest email.
- Request a new reset if the current link expired.
- Verify you typed the same password in both fields.
- Ensure the new password meets the policy (see rules above).
- Try a different browser or clear cookies if the page behaves oddly.
- If you get repeated server errors, wait a few minutes and retry.
- If you still cannot reset, contact support with:
- your account email
- a screenshot of any error message
- the approximate time you attempted the reset
Contacting support
