Account Email Confirmation Help

This page (ConfirmEmail.aspx) verifies your email address using a short verification code sent to your inbox.

Use this guide to understand each action, expected outcomes, and how to resolve common problems.

Overview

  • Purpose: Confirm the email address associated with your account by entering a verification code you received by email.
  • Where you see it: The page shows the verification form (PanelActivation) and — after success — a confirmation panel (PanelSuccess).

Main controls

  • Verification Code textbox (TextBoxValidationCode)
  • Activate button (ButtonActivate)
  • Resend Code button (ButtonResendCode)
  • Sign Out button (ButtonSignOut)
  • After success: Sign In button (ButtonSignIn)
  • Error area: red ErrorPanel with a dismiss (×) button

Step-by-step: Confirm your email

  1. Open the message you received from the service and copy the verification code (usually numeric or alphanumeric).
  2. On the Confirm Email page, verify the email shown (if displayed) matches the one you expect.
  3. Type the verification code into the Verification Code field.
  4. Click Activate.
  • If the code is valid and not expired, the page will show a success message:

“Thank you, your email address has been successfully verified.”

and the Sign In button.

  • Click Sign In to log in with your verified account.
  1. If the code is incorrect or expired, an error message appears in the red ErrorPanel. You can then:
  • Re-enter the code if you mistyped it
  • Click Resend Code to request a new code by email
  • Click Sign Out to cancel and sign out

Using Resend Code

  • Click Resend Code if you didn’t receive the email or the code expired.
  • Wait a short time for the new email to arrive and check Spam/Junk folders.
  • If multiple resends are attempted quickly, there may be a short wait or rate limit — wait a few minutes before trying again.

Common messages and what they mean

  • Success: “Thank you, your email address has been successfully verified.” — verification completed.
  • Invalid code / Incorrect code — the code you entered does not match. Re-check the email and retype.
  • Expired code — codes are time-limited; request a new code via Resend Code.
  • Missing code — you tried to activate without entering a code; enter the code then Activate.
  • Processing or server error — temporary problem; retry after a short wait or contact support.
  • Error panel is dismissible — click the × to hide the message.

Troubleshooting tips

  • Check spam/junk folders if you didn’t receive the code.
  • Ensure you are verifying the same email address shown on the page.
  • Copy/paste the code (avoid extra spaces); if you paste, trim leading/trailing spaces.
  • If the code still fails after resending, try a different email client or browser.
  • If you cannot complete verification because the session expired or you were signed out, click Sign Out then sign in again and request verification from your account settings.
  • If you never received the original verification email, ask the service to resend or check that the email address on file is correct.

Security notes

  • Do not share your verification code; treat it like a password.
  • Verification codes are time-limited for security.
  • If you receive a verification code you did not request, do not use it; contact support immediately.

Accessibility & keyboard tips

  • You can type the code and press Enter to submit if the browser and page support it.
  • The error close button has an accessible label and can be activated with keyboard focus.

When to contact support

Contact support if:

  • You tried Resend Code several times and still get no email.
  • The code keeps failing even after resending.
  • You see messages like “token invalid” or “session expired” and cannot re-request a code.

Provide support with:

  • your account email
  • a screenshot of the error
  • the approximate time you attempted verification

Quick help (one-line)
